Hi, my name is Kendall and I would like to tell you a little bit about my family. I'll start with Mom and Dad (for you grown-ups I mean Dawn and Graham - you know, like the cracker). They both went to UNC at Chapel Hill and met while my dad was still in college and my mom was a nurse at Duke. They actually met at a bar but don't like to admit it because neither remembers that night very well. Mom's friends used to pick on her saying that she was robbing the cradle because Dad is two years younger than Mom. But, Mom decided to marry Dad anyway in 1992. They lived in NYC for 2 years after getting married before moving back to Chapel Hill. My mom now is a nurse at UNC and my dad is the plant manager for the family's hosiery mill. We're having a good time getting to know each other and I'm even teaching them a thing or two.
Now, about my dad's family. My grandmother's name is Lucy Gail and she lives in Connecticut. She came to meet me when I was a week old and was very excited to meet me. My dad keeps calling her, jokingly, a "twit sister." I'm not sure what that means but he says he hopes I "don't have the twit gene." Unfortunately, I will not be able to meet my dad's dad. He passed away in 1991. I heard my mom and dad talking about him before I was born. Sounds like he was a really cool guy and I'm going to miss out on a lot by his absence. I'm sure I'll get to know him through stories. As far as uncles go, I have 2 on my dad's side. Uncle Boyd is a Captain in the Marine Corp. He flies helicopters. Right now he is in Japan so I haven't met him yet. My uncle "H" (named Holmes after my grandfather) is also a Marine - 1st Lt. Harden. He is here now for a few days before he goes to Hawaii for 2 years. I don't know much about this place but everyone seems to be jealous of him. I also have an aunt - Shea. People call her "princess." She lives in NJ with her husband, John. They have been married for 5 months now. They met at business school in California. I haven't met Shea yet either but she's coming in December to shop with my mom. Well, that about sums up my dad's immediate family.
On my Mom's side of the family, I have Grandma Kay,who really really loves me,as well she should, and Grandpa Carl who helps me with this page. (He has to type it for me because my fingers are too small. But I tell him what to do.) Grandma has just retired from being a Radiation Therapy Technologist so that she could spend more time with me. Grandpa is a physicist and a computer nut at East Carolina University . My Great Grandparents, known to the Big People as Betty and Carl Adler, live in Buffalo NY.
